The Sports Backers have established the “Active RVA” certification and awards program to recognize the region’s exceptional employers and schools that are implementing innovative programs to promote physical activity. The organizations and schools that are Active RVA Certified serve as role models in the community.
Once your company or school has been certified, you will be qualified to be in our PULSE e-newsletter, blogs, and in weekly posts on Facebook and Twitter. Your achievement will be recognized at a ceremony that will take place once a year at the Annual Scorecard luncheon where you receive your official plaque commemorating your achievement. Our goal is to give those schools and companies that are doing the best job of encouraging physically active lifestyles recognition in the community. Awards Luncheon
The first annual Active RVA Fitness Awards Luncheon presented by Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. was held on February 12, 2013 at The Westin Richmond. The luncheon honored 38 companies and 22 schools receiving “Active RVA Certification,” awarded a Fitness Grade of a C+ to the Richmond Region, and hosted keynote speaker Dr. Jo, one of the nation’s top speakers on how physical activity can positively impact health. The second annual luncheon will take place in February 2014, and registration will be available in late 2013.
