VCU Massey Cancer Center: Join the HDL, Inc. Massey Challenge!
The VCU Massey Cancer Center is the official charitable fundraising partner of the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k. By participating in the Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. Massey Challenge, you can support the fight against cancer. One hundred percent of the money raised stays right here at Massey and our research helps to extend and save lives throughout Virginia and around the world. Every donation counts and no amount is too small. Race registration fees do not benefit Massey, so Massey can’t run without you!
As you prepare to run or walk, please consider one of these options:
- Participate in the Challenge as an individual or a team. Use our website, www.run4massey.org to create a web page and easily reach out via email to encourage friends and family to make a donation on your behalf.
- Organize a fundraising team with family, friends, or coworkers. Hold a dress down day, break room bake sale or garage sale to raise additional funds for your team.
- Make a personal donation. Use the entry form in this brochure or online at www.run4massey.org.

Sports Backers Youth Running Program: Help Combat Childhood Obesity
The Sports Backers Youth Running Program promotes a healthy active lifestyle to elementary school aged students by offering a free incentive based exercise program. Each spring, the flexible 10-week program allows participants to track their progress on a running log (coloring sheet) and receive fun prizes along the way.
To get involved:
- Donate to the Sports Backers Youth Running Program to help expand the program.
- Sign your children up and have them run their final mile at the Virginia 529 Kids Mile.
- Encourage your child’s school to implement the Sports Backers Kids Challenge.
