Obstacles

This 5-miler may start and finish on a historic settlement and wind through a scenic conservation area, but it is definitely NOT a walk in the park!

Details

• To ensure a smooth start, you will be organized into groups (selected during registration):
  • Mud Racer – 8 min. miles or faster
  • Mud Runner – 9 min. miles
  • Mudder – 9:00 to 9:30 min. miles
  • Mud Jogger – 9:30 to 10:30 min. miles
  • Mud Wallower – 10:30 min. miles or slower*
• Each group will be subdivided into 15 waves to alleviate congestion on the trails.
• The 5-mile event is chip timed. Clocks are also located at the Start and Finish.
• The Henricus Dauber Dash is limited to 1,500 participants.
• Please arrive well in advance of the start, to allow time for picking up your race packet.

*Please note: This is NOT a race for walkers.

Mud Guppies

Why should mom and dad have all the fun? Let the little ones race the one-miler, complete with mini hay bales and the same messy mud pit at the finish! Ages 8-14 are welcome!

Packet Pick-up

T-shirt and packet pick up will be available at Henricus Historical Park, beginning at 7 a.m. on event day, Saturday, June 23. A photo ID is required to pick up your race packet.

Bag Check

Bag check is available near the Start/Finish. You may also “check” your ID if you’d like a beer at the finish.

Course

The 5-mile race starts and finishes at Henricus Historical Park after winding through Dutch Gap… but it’s not just your average walk in the park. This course is packed with plenty of mud, dirt and obstacles along the way to keep you challenged and having fun! Click here for a full description.

Tips & Safety

• Wear your grungy clothes and sneakers - they probably won't be going home with you!
• Bring a big trash bag, dry clothes and a towel for afterwards.
• Leave your jewelry and anything items of value at home.
• This is a TRAIL run – in addition to our man-made obstacles, be cautious of rocks, roots, etc.
• Do NOT dive head first into the mud pits.

Event Charity

The official charity of the Henricus Dauber Dash is the The Henricus Foundation, which brings history to life by re-creating the second successful English settlement in the New World. Historical interpretations and reenactments pay tribute to Virginia's Indians and the English settlers who carved a nation out of Virginia's “western frontier” of the time.

When registering, please consider making a donation to the Henricus Foundation to provide funding for the maintenance and educational programs at Henricus Historical Park.
